to protect Clean Water
Together with Aveda, the Solaris is holding a walk for water and silent auction in honor of Earth Month and in support of organizations around the world working to support and protect clean water. Celebrating 30 years of caring for the Earth, Aveda announces a record-breaking goal to raise $3 million for clean water rights. Last year, Aveda’s global spa, store and salon network exceeded its fundraising goal, raising over $2.8 million. Funds support Aveda’s global Earth Month partner, Global Greengrants Fund, along with local partners including Alliance for the Great Lakes.
We are committed to raising $2000 for Earth Month to protect clean water! We are having a silent auction at the salon the month of April along with our Walk of Downtown Evansville that will be six kilometers long and the team will be carrying 40 gallons of water. This year, Aveda introduces a new global initiative that acknowledges the daily struggle of over one billion people around the world who do not have access to clean water. The Aveda Walk for Water campaign unites the Company’s network and guests in a series of walks around the world to raise awareness, funds and excitement of the need to protect clean water. Executed locally by Aveda distribution, salons, spas, experience centers and institutes Our local walk of downtown Evansville that starts at Penny Lane will raise funds for local organizations working to preserve clean water. The event will take place at Penny Lane on April 26th at 11:00 am. Participants will walk six kilometers—the average distance that women in developing countries walk to collect water per day.
LIGHT THE WAY™ CANDLE
In addition to Walk For Water the Aveda 2009 Earth Month campaign includes the launch of a limited edition Light the Way™ soy wax candle sold during the month of April. This year’s candle features a new, French-inspired stress-relieving aroma with 100% EcoCert certified organic ingredients, including lavender, lavandin and clary sage.
